The presence of the important Chinese investors in Albania was one of the reasons of the visit of the Chinese Deputy PM Zhang Gaoli in Tirana, aiming at further strengthening the cooperation between two countries. Bankers Petroleum is one of the most important Chinese investment, as the largest taxpayer that represents 5% of Albanian’s GDP. Bankers has invested US$ 1.7 Billion in Albania, while more will be done by using modern technology and develop further the major asset of the country.

Deputy PM of China, Zhang Gaoli paid an official visit yesterday in Albania. The focus of his visit was increasing of the investments and the economic cooperation between two countries, especially based on the initiative of the Chinese government’s “One Belt, One Road”, through which the Asian country is aggressively investing in Balkan countries, including Albania. Bankers Petroleum is the most important Chinese investment in Albania. Geo-Jade Chinese Company acquired through its subsidiaries 100% of Bankers’ shares last year, obtaining the right to exploit Patos-Marinza oilfield, the largest one in Europe. During the last ten years, former Canadian company has managed to be the largest foreign direct investor and taxpayer. Bankers has invested over than US$ 1.7 Billion in Albania, it has doubled its oil reserves and has increased the production to over than 20.000 bopd. Oil production carried out by Bankers Petroleum in Patos-Marinza oilfield is the highest one in the 86 year of history of this area. The new owners have an ambitious plan for the company and investments in the oil sector. Bankers plans to increase its investments, by applying a modern technology and to further develop Patos-Marinza oilfield, which is one of the major assets of the country. Chinese’s government has fully supported this acquisition and investment.
