The 2024 Taiyuan Energy Low-Carbon Development Forum, jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration, and the Shanxi Provincial Government, focused on the theme "Develop New Productive Forces in Energy to Build a Clean and Beautiful World." On September 11, 2024, the Fusion Innovation and High-Quality Science and Technology Supply Exchange event, along with the first Technology Achievement Roadshow between Tsinghua University and Shanxi Province, was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi. The event was organized by the Shanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University’s Technology Transfer Institute, and the Department of Energy and Power Engineering at Tsinghua University, with the Tsinghua Shanxi Clean Energy Research Institute serving as the host. Attendees included Tang Zhiping, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Governor of the Shanxi Provincial Government; Fan Zhaosen, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanxi Provincial Government and Party Secretary and Director of the Management Committee of the Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone; Liu Junyi, Party Secretary, Director, and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Direct Agency at the Shanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology; and Pan Haiyan, Party Secretary and Director of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology.

Shanxi Vice Governor Tang Zhiping emphasized that the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Government have taken on a bold mission, positioning the energy revolution as a critical step for advancing high-quality development. This initiative is transforming Shanxi from a coal-rich province into a leading energy province, paving a path for high-quality energy development with Shanxi characteristics. Tang noted that this event is essential for deepening the provincial-university collaboration between the Shanxi Government and Tsinghua University, accelerating the application of innovative achievements in Shanxi, and fostering the growth of new productive forces.
He expressed hope that through this forum, participants would spark insightful ideas that could attract cutting-edge thoughts and advanced technologies in the global low-carbon energy field to Shanxi. Tang encouraged the Tsinghua Shanxi Institute to fully leverage Tsinghua University’s strengths in academics, technology, and talent, making the best use of Shanxi’s technological resources and relevant policies to act as an intermediary bridge between Shanxi and Tsinghua. He further expressed the wish for Tsinghua University to bring more high-quality innovation resources to Shanxi and localize more scientific achievements within the province. Finally, he urged Shanxi’s cities, departments, and enterprises to seize this rare opportunity, deepen cooperation and exchanges, continually improve the development environment, and optimize support services comprehensively. This, he said, would provide a vast platform for entrepreneurial efforts and, together with all stakeholders, help write a new chapter in Shanxi's high-quality development.

Geo-Jade Sustainable Energy Co., Ltd participated in the forum as a specially invited signing entity. Chairman Mr. Kang Binsheng and General Manager Mr. Wu Nanxiang attended the strategic cooperation signing ceremony. During the event, reporters from Shanxi Provincial Television interviewed Mr. Kang regarding the company's strategic positioning, main business direction, current technological advancements, and future development plans. Mr. Kang provided an in-depth overview of the clean energy technologies and equipment currently under development and extended his best wishes for the forum’s success.The event showcased 90 technological achievements from Tsinghua University, featuring 38 projects across three major fields: renewable energy and zero-carbon technology, energy-saving low-carbon environmental protection, and high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing. Each project presentation included technical solutions, competitive advantages, development plans, and application scenarios, followed by in-depth exchanges and discussions with enterprises, financial institutions, and scholars.

The event attracted significant attention from academicians, experts, Shanxi provincial leaders, heads of higher education institutions within Shanxi, and innovative companies from various regions. A total of over 400 people attended the event in person, including representatives from 49 cities, 73 business leaders, 29 financial institution representatives, and 11 universities and research institutions. Additionally, nearly ten thousand people watched the live broadcast online.

During the event, the Tsinghua Shanxi Institute held strategic cooperation signing ceremonies with Lu’an Chemical Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd. and Geo-Jade Sustainable Energy Co., Ltd.

Significant breakthroughs have been made in this field. Geo-Jade Sustainable Energy Co., Ltd in collaboration with Tsinghua University, aims to enhance natural gas utilization through technological innovation, enabling flexible deployment across different regions to suit various application scenarios. The successful implementation of this project will provide strong technical support for the transformation of China’s energy structure, advance clean energy development, and contribute to achieving national energy security and the "dual carbon" (carbon peak and neutrality) goals.
