Iraq's Deputy Oil Minister Meets with Geo-Jade Delegation to Discuss Oilfield Development
Baghdad, Iraq – On Sunday, November 10, 2024, Iraq's Deputy Oil Minister for Upstream Affairs, Mr. Basim Mohammed Khudair, met with Mr. Fan Jianping, General Manager of Geo-Jade's Iraq Project, along with his accompanying delegation. This meeting reflects the Ministry of Oil's continued efforts to advance oil and gas field development and enhance investment in the petroleum sector.
During the meeting, both sides focused on Geo-Jade's ongoing oilfield development plans. These projects have all been approved under the fifth licensing round for exploration block development.
Mr. Basim Mohammed Khudair emphasized that the primary objective of these developments is to explore natural gas reservoirs. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Oil's commitment to fully supporting international investment companies in executing these projects according to approved timelines and standards. He also highlighted Iraq's determination to provide a collaborative platform for global partners to participate in the country's oil and gas sector development, contributing to Iraq’s economic and social recovery.
Mr. Fan Jianping expressed Geo-Jade's confidence in the broad prospects for collaboration under the high-quality framework of the China-Iraq “Belt and Road” initiative. He reaffirmed Geo-Jade's dedication to improving local livelihoods in Iraq, demonstrating the company's commitment to setting a positive example for other international partners.
