National Strategy Empowerment: Sozak Gas Project Enters a New Era of Development

Astana, June 16, 2025 — Against the diplomatic backdrop of the Second China–Central Asia Summit, Geo-Jade Petroleum Corporation (“Geo-Jade”) and its controlling shareholder Hong Kong Zhongke International Petroleum & Gas Co., Ltd. (“Zhongke”) achieved a historic breakthrough: their jointly invested Sozak Project officially secured strategic national support from the Government of Kazakhstan. A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with the Kazakh national investment company under the Investment Committee, granting the project top-level political endorsement and elevating it to a nationally backed energy initiative.

1. Policy Backing: A New Journey Begins

On June 13, representatives of Geo-Jade and Zhongke held in-depth talks with Prime Minister Olzhas Bekzhanov. The memorandum’s signing goes beyond symbolic recognition and establishes three foundational pillars:

• Strategic Anchoring: The project is now integrated into Kazakhstan’s national energy security framework, receiving prioritized policy support;

• Investment Shield: A forthcoming Special Investment Agreement will unlock a new chapter of efficient resource development and mutual benefit;

• Resource Coordination: A dedicated working group—jointly led by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Finance—will eliminate communication and implementation bottlenecks.

2. Unlocking the Key to the Eurasian Energy Puzzle

The Chu–Sarysu Basin, where the Sozak Project is located, holds rich reserves of unconventional natural gas, with strategic value extending far beyond its commercial scope. Through technical innovation, production planning, and deep geopolitical relevance, the project aims to drive efficient development and foster win–win cooperation.

3. A New Symphony in China–Kazakhstan Energy Cooperation

This national endorsement acts as ballast for a flagship vessel. With the infusion of China’s advanced technology and expert talent, Kazakhstan’s international standing as an energy powerhouse will be further strengthened. Following the signing, the Sozak Project has been elevated to a strategic hub along the Belt and Road energy corridor—delivering not only clean energy, but also shared confidence in China–Kazakhstan development.
